Weight Loss Surgery Options

At Bay Bariatrics, we offer four primary types of weight loss surgery:

• Gastric Bypass Surgery - This procedure combines restrictive and malabsorptive surgery techniques by creating a small pouch out of the stomach and bypassing a portion of the small intestines.
• LAP-BAND® Surgery - An alternative to gastric bypass surgery, the laparoscopic adjustable band, or LAP-BAND®, is a simple medical device that is wrapped around the stomach. The band can be tightened to limit food intake and control digestion; because the band is adjustable, the procedure is completely reversible, unlike gastric-restrictive surgery.
• Sleeve Gastrectomy – A sleeve gastrectomy is a restrictive procedure that limits the amount of food you can eat by reducing the size of your stomach. During this procedure a thin vertical sleeve of stomach is created using a stapling device. This sleeve will typically hold between 50 to 150ml, and is about the size of a banana. The excised portion of the stomach is removed.
